Delightful and Authentic

I love the illustrations. The story made me chuckle. As a German Shepherd owner, I made many connections. Boo Boo is so much like my Cappy Bear. The skunk part made me cringe a bit. My dog has been skunked 3 times in his short three years of life. I will be reading this to a class of first graders very soon. I will amend this review with their responses once I do. Knowing what I know about first graders, they will love it. There are never enough dog books for them to read. Great Job, Kris Wittman. You must be a GSD OWNER. ;).I read this to my first graders. They love it! They are taking turns taking it home to share with their families. Boo Boo is currently a trendy book in my first grade class. The students can't stop talking about the skunk part.

A very excellent book for children of all ages. "Boo Boo's Really Bad Awful Day" is a delight to read and one never gets tired of reading it over and over. Children are spellbound when I read the book to them and can relate to poor Boo Boo's mishaps and fall in love with this charming puppy. Anxiously awaiting the next book by the author. This is a cute book that I think little kids will enjoy. The pictures are clever and funny. The story is well told . I think children can relate to it. My 6 yr. old great grand daughter will enjoy reading the words she knows.
The length is just right for active children This is as good or better than many of the books that cost twice as much. This will definitely go in the Christmas stocking.

one of Taschen's most impressive books

Amazon's product description for this book is incomplete. This is a complete cover to cover facsimile of a hand colored edition of the German translation of the Nuremberg chronicle. The book itself has absolutely no notes or translations. It's an extremely accurate reproduction of the very book one would have read in the 16th century. There are no page numbers per se, but Amazon's 600 page count sounds right. however, the Chronicle is packed in a slip case along with an 88 page book of annotations and commentary and an invaluable index pointing out all the notable people and subjects and their folio numbers (as opposed to page numbers).

It's hard to describe the sense of awe I got upon opening and browsing the book. Though I don't know German, I'm tempted to learn it, if only to properly read the book. Every page is packed with text and colored woodcuts, many of which are highly imaginative. I'll be poring over this book for decades. The facsimile quality is superb. The original document is somewhat flawed, as smudges, stains and foxing are seen throughout, but they're all so well reproduced that I had a genuine feeling that I was handling an original copy. Basically all the text is legible, printed as it is in a small Gothic style font.

This is an epic achievement by Taschen, and anyone even vaguely interested in art or history will be endlessly fascinated by it. At the current retail price, this book is a great value and a no brainer purchase.

About the Author
Raymond Davis is a former United States Army soldier and military contractor who became the center of an international maelstrom after his involvement in a shooting in Lahore, Pakistan on January 27, 2011. Born and raised in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, Davis spent 10 years in the army, the last six of which he spent as a member of the Special Forces. After being discharged from the army in 2003 because of an injury, Davis worked as a private contractor providing operational security in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Storms Reback is the author of three books All In: The (Almost) Entirely True History of the World Series of Poker, Farha on Omaha: Expert Strategy for Beating Cash Games and Tournaments, and Ship It Holla Ballas!: How a Bunch of 19-Year-Old College Dropouts Used the Internet to Become Poker’s Loudest, Craziest, and Richest Crew. Powerful read from start to finish.

Powerful read from start to finish. Reading this book exposed me to the human side of Ray Davis that was hidden from general public all that long. As an American of Pakistani origin there is nothing in the book that sounded out of the line or exaggerated. The depiction of Pakistani media and justice system by the author is sadly spot on.

This book gives a well written account of what happened on the front lines and what was happening behind the scenes. The historical lessons helped to see how and why events played out and were very helpful in understanding the reasons many things have gone on there and here. Thank you for your heroic service. There are many tools we can use to deal with adversity which already exist. Automobile insurance reimburses you if your car is stolen/damaged. Vaccines prevent various illnesses and auxiliary sluice gates prevent a dam from bursting or overflowng. These are all wonderful things, but deal with a known peril or perils. But what if we encounter an uncovered or unexpected type of adversity? In addition, we also don't know when or possibly how to be vigilant. For example, how can we possibly prepare ourselves to deal with our best friend losing his parents after they're shot during a bank robbery?�

I'm a simple guy and have no way to predict the future, so there has to be another way to prepare for adversity. But, why go to the trouble of looking for some tool or framework to help in the first place? Because it acts as a sort of emotional insurance policy since it's not unheard of to be overwhelmed by an unexpected problem. Not only may the original issue remain unresolved but it might compound and drive you into a rut as you struggle to deal with it. An example would be for social drinking to become more of an issue while you're trying to deal with your friend's parents' killing.�

So, if we can't predict the future and know about specific tragic events ahead of time, what can be done? How do we better prepare to make choices, learn and move on?�

LIFETIME REFERENCE BOOK: I can't say I'm the world's biggest expert in this area. Who is? But I do have a lot of experience successfully dealing with many of life's issues (ex: family deaths, chronic illness, divorce, loss of children, unemployment, crime, financial loss, employment discrimination). Enough experience to know that there's more than one way to cope. So, I've drawn on my coping skills and written a guide you can use for a lifetime. The tools are adaptable to your personality and comfort level because I've provided 4 models you can select from: Process, anecdotal, inspirational and humorous.�

Refreshing open book we all can relate to

Well written with unpretentious candor and humor. Andrew definitely touches many bases in the game of life. Most of all there is hope and reality that many times, when all else fails nothing beats positive attitude and clear mind. I simply enjoyed it and honored to have traveled challenges of life with the author through this book. Very easy read thanks to Andrew's honest sincere style.

This book is a must read for all of us.

This is an honest and engaging account of one man's life. The author takes a hard look at his own life's serious challenges, both medical and personal, and derives life lessons at each turn.

He has surmounted many tragedies, and has developed a general plan for people to remain positive. The author has learned how to retain a sense of humor about life and has keen insight into his own. This book explains how each of us can develop our own blueprint for coping with life's serious adversities and for mistakes we've made. The author sets an example for overcoming these obstacles and for becoming better people.

I was inspired by the author's determination to move forward despite suffering numerous set backs. Also, the book is easy reading and funny as well. It ends on a high note and is highly recommended.

Life Is about possibility and Hope.....and never forget that.

Those words above are one of many life's lessons in which this author presents to the reader. A engaging story based on constant bad circumstances and the bumps and bangs along the road of the authors life. The author faces a mire of complex life struggling situations all rife with adversity. His inner strengths and great ability to confront and reflect upon his personal challenges saved him. It is a book about lessons, a book about personal tests and triumph. It is a story of hope, relentless perseverance, victory and gratitude. There are many valuable lessons to be learned in an entire lifetime, the author offers many and all of his "Life Lessons" are well worth the read.

Moreover, by promoting denunciatory practices, the regime cemented the loyalties of "upstanding" citizens while suppressing opponents, dissenters, and social outsiders. Fascist repression was thus more intense and ideological than previously thought and even shared some important similarities with Nazi and Soviet terror.
